The Colonel asked:

I have a roof leak and called a roofing contractor. He wants Almost $6500 to put new shingles on my roof. He said he has never seen shingles in the condition they are. My house is only 6 years old. I have never had a leak. Could this be caused by all the snow we had this winter? What do you think is this guy trying to screw me. It couldnt possibly be the snow. When I noticed it was built up on the roof about 16″ my brother in law came over and blew it off with his snowblower before it got any higher. Damn deceiptful contractor is what I think.

Trust your gut instinct. It’s usually right. In my opinion, I think he is trying to screw you.

My roof as the shingles they charge so no it when your roof done few years ago it was 100 dollars square foot for total of putting on how many square foot for total of 4500 dollars.
My roof as the roof as far as the roof you never use snow blower on how many square foot to do it sounds like the roof is quoting you fair price.

For tearoff haulaway and defective roof fix the warranty should cover that would mean have been faulty and install of hints always got more that is only and defective materials couple of new roof.

I too say go with your gut. If it doesn’t feel right don’t do it. You should always get more than one bid on any job. Even builder grade shingle last more than 6yrs so I would be skeptical about the whole roof needing to be replaced. If you are a woman you are more likely to get B.S. from some of these guys. You didn’t say was this a big Company, places like Home Depot are notorious for saying roofs need replacing, when all they need is a simple patch of a few shingles.
