How long do you depreciate a roof on a home?

We have a 2 family and live in one of the units. We had a roof put on last fall. How long do we have to depreciate this roof? Our CPA was going to for 27 years but changed it to 20 years. I’m confused.

      It’s part of the house so it’s 27.5 years.

      Roof some are guaranteed for 20 years others for 30 or 40 years thats what you should base your depreciation on the warranty on the roof some are guaranteed for 30 or 40 years others for 30 or.
