How to start a roofing company in NYS?

My husband and his father want to start their own roofing company. They have all the connections and can get jobs without a problem because my father-in-law runs the company he works for now. We also have an accountant (sister-in-law) and graphic designer (me). So we are set.

All we need to know is which licenses or what papers we need to have for this company to make it legitimate.
