Our metal roof sweats inside the room, we have not replaced the ceiling yet. What could cause this?

noahsnanna asked:
We live in a mobile home with a metal room attached that has a metal roof, the ceiling started leaking, so my husband took down the old ceiling and put a new metal roof on the room. He left the old metal on the roof , put insulation on top and then put new metal roofing on top of the insulation. Now the inside of the room sweats {we have not put in a new ceiling yet} it drips almost constantly. expecially when it is cold and the warm sun hits the roof. We need to put up a ceiling, but we cant’t because the ceiling tile will just get wet and ruin. What can we do to stop the roof {ceiling} from sweating and getting everything in the room wet? Can anyone help us with this problem?

What are the main differences between roofing materials? Asphalt, slate, wood shingles, etc?

I am looking at purchasing a home that is in need of a new roof among other things, and was wondering if someone could tell me what the difference was between the different materials available for use. The house is in Pittsburgh, PA. The homes around the area seem to have either slate or asphalt. What is the life expectancy of each type? Are there certain benefits accompanied with each one? Any advice would be great.

Thank you all for your answers. I have just one more question: I want red for the one I decide on. Does anyone know if either one will fade over time?

In roofing a house, there are bundles of shingles called 3 tab shingles. Where and when are these shingles used? How do they differ from a regular bundle of shingles? Also, what are starter shingles? How and when are they used, and how do they come?

I’m doing a report, and cannot find much of anything online or in the library. If you know any good websites or books or articles that I can use, it would be much appreciated, especially if there are pictures. I just need to know some early uses of metal roofing.
