A square is 100 square feet. With 3 tab shingles that is 3 bundles usually.

That is 100 sqft or a 10′x10′ area.

      1 square = 100 square feet

Roof shingles are packed in 33 1/3 sq. ft. bundles.

You need 3 bundles to a square.
